Description:
Gelfert-H (Biotin) is as known as vitamin-H. It is
a part of vitamin B complex. Vitamin-I-I is a
water soluble B-Complex vitamin that plays an
important role in the metabolism of fats. Protein
and glucose.
Why biotin needs:
Human body needs biotin to metabolize
carbohydrates, fats and amino acids. Biotin is
essential for healthy cell growth. Strengthening
hair and nails, free from fatigue, Insomnia and
depression.
Functions and Mechanism of Biotin:
The most important functions of biotin are to
ensure proper growth. Not only does it help to
produce DNA fatty acids and other essential
nucleic acids it also helps the cells growth and
replicate, Biotin also plays a vital role in the
production of bone marrow and thus the tissue of
the central nervous system and muscles benefit
this vitamin. Vitamin-H is also known to be
involved in the process that helps transfer carbon
dioxide. It seems that biotin may affect hair
color together with PABA, Folic acid and
Pantothenic acid, some research had varying
results with biotin supplements in returning hair
to it original color.
Biotin acts in at least four separate essential
Bodily functions:
Gelfert-H (Biotin) catalyzes an essential step in
the synthesis of fatty acids.
Gelfert-H (Biotin)
is a critical enzyme in glucogenesis, the process
by which the body forms glucose from
non-carbohydrates.
Gelfert-H (Biotin) is the catalyst for a step in
the metabolism of leucine, one of the essential
amino acids.
Gelfert-H (Biotin) also catalyzes the metabolism
of other amino acids, cholesterol and some
essential fatty acids.

Hair and Nail Problems:
Many evidence suggest that biotin supplements
improve thin, splitting or brittle toe and
fingernails as well as hair. Hair loss can be
successfully combated with biotin supplements.
both for men and women. Biotin also helps to
reverse graying hair in those with marginal biotin
deficiency. Biotin Combined with Zinc and topical
clobetasol propionate has been used to combat
alopecia (Partial or complete loss of hair) in
both children and adults. Large quantities of
biotin are usually recommended for hair, skin and
nail problems-between 1500 to 2500 micrograms a
day.
Pregnancy and embryonic growth:
Marginal and functional biotin deficiency
occasionally occurs in pregnant women. It is also
important for normal embryonic growth, making it
for a critical nutrient during pregnancy The
normal daily intake of biotin is about 300mcg for
healthy adults and pregnant woman. However, women
who are breast feeding require slightly higher
amounts such as 350mcg a day
Diabetes:
Biotin also helpful in maintaining a steady blood
sugar level. Preliminary research indicate that a
combination of biotin and chromium improve blood
sugar control in some peoph with type-2 diabetes.
It also increase the body's reaction to insulin
and keep blood sugar levels steady. Thus may find
this vitamin beneficial.
Dosage (Oral):
I tablet once daily with meal for 3-4 months or as
directed by a health care practitioner.
Children:
Suitable for children at one-half the adult dosage
with meal or as directed by the physician
Precautions:
Hypersensitivity to Biotin. Biotin has not been
associated with side effects (even in higt doses)
and is considered to be non-toxic.
Possible interactions:
Long-term antibiotic use may lower biotin levels
by destroying the bacteria in the gut that
produces biotin.Anticonvulsant medications can
reduce the body's stores of biotin.
Anticonvulsanl drugs include:
Carbamazepine (Carbatrol) Phenobarbital Phenytoin
(Dilantin)
Primidone (Mysoline)
